Work together in real time
You and the other members of your space can work in the same project at the same time. Everyone's changes appear for everyone as they're made, so there's no need to send files back and forth or wait for someone to finish.
See who's working in a project
- In the page header, look at the avatars to the left of the sync status.
Each avatar is someone working in the project right now. Hold the pointer over an avatar to see their name and the area they're in, such as Screenplay, On Set, or Storyboards.
Check that your changes are saved
FilmKit saves your changes automatically. The sync status in the page header shows whether they've reached everyone else.

- Synced: Your changes are saved. Hold the pointer over the status to see when they were last saved.
- Syncing…: FilmKit is saving your latest changes.
- Connecting…: FilmKit is connecting to the project.
- Offline: You aren't connected. If you've made changes since you lost the connection, the status also shows unsynced changes.
- Connection error: FilmKit couldn't connect and is trying again.
- Idle: The page you're on doesn't open a live part of the project. Syncing starts when you open the screenplay, the schedule, or the log.
Work offline
If you lose your connection, you can keep working. FilmKit keeps your changes on your device and saves them as soon as you're back online; the sync status changes from Offline to Syncing… and then Synced.
To install FilmKit as an app so it opens without a connection, see Install FilmKit and work offline.
Export unsynced changes
If you need to reload a project while you still have unsynced changes, export them first so nothing is lost.
- In the page header, hold the pointer over the sync status, then click Export unsynced changes.
- In the dialog, click Export and reload.
FilmKit downloads a recovery file with your unsynced changes, clears the copy saved in this browser, and reloads the latest saved version of the project. Keep the recovery file until you've checked your work.
Recover changes that weren't accepted
Sometimes FilmKit can't accept changes from your device, for example because your access to the project changed while you were offline. A Unsynced changes on this device panel then appears at the top of the page.
- In the panel, click Check for unsynced changes.
The panel lists what's on your device that hasn't been saved. - Click Download the record to save a copy of those changes.
- Click Discard and reload the server version.
You can discard only after you've downloaded the record.
