Install FilmKit and work offline
You can install FilmKit from your browser so it opens in its own window, with an icon in your dock, on your home screen, or in your app launcher. Installed or not, a project you have open keeps working when the connection drops, which matters on set and on remote locations.
Install FilmKit on a computer or Android device
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Account Settings.
- In the Install FilmKit card, click .
- Confirm the installation in the browser's prompt.
FilmKit opens in its own window, and the card shows "FilmKit is installed on this device."
If the card doesn't show an Install FilmKit button, your browser hasn't offered an install prompt. Look for Install app or Add to Home Screen in the browser's menu instead. If neither is there, you can keep using FilmKit in a browser tab.
Install FilmKit on iPhone or iPad
- In Safari, open FilmKit.
- Tap the Share button in the browser toolbar.
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
FilmKit appears on your Home Screen and opens like any other app.
Work offline
When your connection drops while a project is open, you can keep working:
- The sync status at the top of the project changes to Offline. When you have changes that haven't reached FilmKit yet, it says so.
- Your edits to the screenplay, the schedule, and the On Set log are kept on this device.
- When the connection returns, the status shows Syncing…, then Synced, and your changes appear for everyone else. Changes other people made in the meantime appear for you.
See Work together in real time.
When a page can't load offline
If you open or reload a page that needs the network while you're offline, FilmKit shows a page saying FilmKit is waiting for the network.

Do one of the following:
- Return to the page you wanted: When the connection is back, click Try requested page again.
- Go to the home page: Click Open cached home.
Public pages you've visited before, such as the directory, open casting calls, and this user guide, open from the copy saved on your device.
