Intro to crew hiring

You can fill the jobs behind the camera from inside your project: post an open position, review the people who express interest, and hire them straight onto your crew roster. Crew hiring is separate from casting, and simpler: there are no auditions or self-tapes.

Crew postings

A crew posting is an open position on your project, such as a gaffer for a three-week shoot. It has a title, an optional role and department, a description, a location, dates, a rate, and whether it's a union position. When you create a posting, FilmKit publishes it to the public Crew jobs board right away. A posting is Open, Closed, or Filled. See Post a crew job.

Expressions of interest

Crew members respond to a posting by expressing interest: they pick one of their crew profiles and can add a note and a showreel. You review each expression of interest, change its status as you go, and hire the right person. Hiring adds them to your address book and to the project's roster as crew, with the posting's role and department. See Review interest and hire.

The crew jobs board

The Crew jobs board lists every open posting on FilmKit. Anyone can browse it, filtered by department and role. Crew members with a FilmKit account express interest from a posting's page and follow their responses under My interests. See Find crew jobs.

Only open postings are public. Closed and filled postings drop off the board, and the people who expressed interest are visible only to your project.
