Directory & Profiles

FilmKit has a public side: a searchable directory of people and organizations, and the profiles and showreels they present there. This is how talent and crew get found, and how they apply to your casting calls and crew jobs.

The directory

The directory is one unified, search-indexed index of profiles. Browse it by type — Cast, Crew, Production Company, Film School, Festival, or Talent Agency.

The public directory — search and filter cast, crew, and organizations.
  • For Crew, filter by department and role.
  • For Cast, open the attribute panel to filter by playing age, height, and physical attributes like build, hair, and eye color.
  • Every filter lives in the URL, so a filtered view is shareable — which is exactly how a character's Find matching talent button lands you on a pre-filtered directory.

A profile page shows the person or organization's main showreel, tagline, location, credits, skills, languages, and any type-specific details, plus representation (an actor's agencies, or an agency's roster). Festival profiles offer a Submit your work action.

Profiles

You can own several profiles, each of exactly one type — a Cast profile for acting, a Crew profile for below-the-line work, or an organization profile for a company, school, festival, or agency. Manage them from Settings → Profiles, and create one with Create.

A profile editor is tailored to its type. Common pieces include:

  • Visibility (Hidden / Unlisted / Public), a photo or logo, display name, tagline, description, location, website, and contact details.
  • Type-specific sections — a Cast profile has union status, playing age, height, and physical attributes, skills, and languages; a Crew profile has departments, roles, availability, and a rate; organizations have their own fields (founded year, accreditation, submission categories, and so on).
  • Team members you invite to help manage the profile, and managing spaces — for example, inviting a talent agency's space to co-manage an actor's profile.

Showreels

A showreel is a reel of images and video that represents a profile. From a profile's showreels panel you can:

  • Create reels with a title, description, and visibility (Public, Unlisted, or Private), and upload media into a library.
  • Attach and reorder items, set captions and alt text, and pick a main showreel — the one shown as a collage on the public profile (it must be Public).

Showreels are what talent and crew attach when they apply to a casting call or express interest in a crew job, so a strong reel travels with every application.
