Manage places

You can keep a page for every place in your story — the settings named in your scene headings, such as the lighthouse or the cliff path. A place describes the story's world; the real buildings and streets where you film it are shooting locations, which you link to the place.

Create a place

FilmKit offers to create a place when you type a new setting in a scene heading. You can also create one from the catalog:

  1. In a project, click Places in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create.
  3. In the New Place dialog, enter a name, then click Create.
The place's page opens so you can keep editing.

Edit a place

  1. In a project, click Places in the sidebar, then click the place's name.
  2. Change the Name or Description.
  3. To add an icon, click Upload icon, then choose a square image.
  4. Click Save.

To link a place, the location must already be in the project. See Manage shooting locations.

  1. In a project, click Places in the sidebar, then click the place's name.
  2. Under Shooting locations, click Link a location…, then choose a location.
The location appears in the list right away. A place can have several locations — for example, an exterior and an interior filmed in different buildings.

To unlink a location, click next to it, then click Remove. The location stays in the project.
