Review applicants

You can review everyone who wants a role in one place: import online applications, add people you found yourself, rate and shortlist them, and keep private notes. When you accept an applicant, FilmKit adds them to your address book and casts the character.

Bring in applicants

  1. In a project, click Casting in the sidebar, then click a call.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Import online applications: When the call is published, new applications from the open casting calls page appear under New online applications. Click Import next to an application to add it to the applicants. To check for new ones, click Refresh.
    • Add someone by hand: Click Add applicant, enter their First name, Last name, Email, and Phone, then click Add applicant.

An imported application keeps the applicant's message and any showreel they shared, which you can watch from the list.

Rate applicants and change their status

In the Applicants list, each row shows the applicant's name and email, where they came from (Online application, Added by casting, or From directory), a rating, and a status.

Do any of the following:

  • Rate an applicant: Click a star in the Rating column.
  • Change an applicant's status: Choose a status from the menu in the Status column: New, Shortlisted, E-casting requested, E-casting submitted, Accepted, or Declined.
  • Find an applicant: Enter a name, email, source, or status in the search field above the list.

Everyone on the casting team sees ratings and status changes as they're made.

Keep notes on an applicant

  1. In the applicant's row, click the Notes button .
The number next to the button shows how many notes the applicant has.
  2. In the Notes dialog, type your note, then click Add note.

To delete a note, click the delete button next to it, then click Delete note. Deleted notes move to the project's Trash, where you can restore them.

Accept or decline an applicant

  1. In the applicant's row, click Accept or Decline.
  2. In the dialog, click Accept applicant or Decline applicant.

When you accept an applicant, FilmKit creates a contact for them in the space address book and, if the call is linked to a character, casts them as that character. See Intro to contacts.

Remove and restore an applicant

  1. In the applicant's row, click Remove.
  2. Click Remove applicant.

The applicant moves to the project's Trash. When you restore them from there, the notes deleted with them come back too. See Restore deleted items from the Trash.
